Shelburne Falls 101
Welcome to my blog on Shelburne Falls, the most beautiful town I have ever been to. Today it's 82 degrees and the sun is shining over the beautiful green mountains. In town there are many things to do that consist of walking, hiking, running, shopping, fishing and just checking out the beautiful scenery that surrounds this wonderful town. The other day I walked from my house up a hiking trail that led to the high ledges, a common spot you will find people looking over the ledges and down at my small town that is completley surrounded by scenic mountains. This spot is also very popular in the fall when leaf peepers come down Route 2 and make stops and take pictures of the leafs changing colors. From the ledges I walked another path to the fire tower which is located on Mt. Massamet and from the tower you can see very far. You can even see UMASS- Amherst which is about a 40 minute drive away! From the tower I hiked down back in to town on a simple trail to complete my journey. In the center of town there are various businesses and eateries including Buckland Pizza, Christopher's Grinders, The West End Pub, McCuskers market, Fox Town, Bakers Pharmacy, Cafe Martin, Shelburne Falls Bowling Ally, Ollies Down Under, The Gypsy Apple and The Village Restaurant. Another hot spot on Bridge Street is Mocha Mayas which is a coffee shop that has live music very frequently. Shelburne Falls is also home to many historical sites like Salmon Falls, the Glacial Potholes, the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, Arms Cemetery and the Bridge of Flowers. To find out about these sites you can go to the Arms Academy Historical Society. Well that is a little bit about our town and we would love for you to come visit it!
